Portugal is a serious contender for the trophy.

Diogo Costa starts in goal. João Cancelo is the favorite at right back, Nuno Mendes is locked in on the left, and Rúben Dias will start at center back.

The final center back spot is still open, but Gonçalo Inácio has partnered Dias more often than Renato Veiga or Tomás Araújo.

Vitinha, João Neves, and Bruno Fernandes have to be the best midfield at the 2026 World Cup.

Up front, Cristiano Ronaldo started five of six qualifiers, making him the favorite ahead of Gonçalo Ramos. Out wide, Portugal have serious depth, but Bernardo Silva and Pedro Neto look like the most likely starters based on minutes played.
