She was best known for her roles, in “Pride and Prejudice,” “These Glamour Girls”, and “Raw Deal”. She was blacklisted in Hollywood in the ’50s, during Sen. Joseph McCarthy’s Communist witch hunt. In 1957, her career began to pick up. In 1960, She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
American journalist, Bernard Shaw, died of pneumonia on September 7, at the age of 82. He was CNN's first chief anchor, and was with the network when it launched on June 1, 1980. CNN noted in his obit, that Shaw covered some of the biggest stories over four decades before he retired in 2001, after working at the network for more than 20 years.

British actress, Pauline Stroud, died at the age of 92. She was best known for her role, as beauty queen Marjorie Clark, in the 1951 British comedy film, Lady Godiva Rides Again. She also appeared in films, such as Her Three Bachelors, Simon and Laura, and Room 43.
South Philadelphia native and a renowned Philadelphia dance instructor and choreographer, LaDeva Davis, died on September 8, at the age of 78.
