The U.S. Men’s National Team closed its penultimate camp before the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 loss to No. 6 Portugal at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in a hard-fought match against the reigning UEFA Nations League champions.

The match was the final chance for players to make their case to be part of head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s 26-player squad for the World Cup. The roster will be announced May 26 leading into the team’s final two matches before the global competition – against Senegal on May 31 in Charlotte, N.C. and Germany on June 6 in Chicago.
