The strongest I felt this vision and passion in Belem, close to Lisbon. Here you can find the discoveries monument and the Belem tower, from where the ships sailed. And more signs of greatness are captured in several monuments.
The discoveries monument shows the visionary people, like Vasco da Gama, who in small primitive sailing boats discovered and explored large parts of the world.

Cascais, close to Lisbon, is a popular vacation spot for both Portuguese and foreign tourists.

Sintra is dotted by royal retreats, castles and buildings from the 8th-9th century. And others completed between the 15th and 19th century, including the Castelo dos Mouros, the Pena National Palace and the Sintra National Palace. It is an UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1995.
