Michale Carrick did make substituations with Marcus Rashford & Bruno Fernandes coming on for Donny Van De Beek & Anthony Martial and in the last 25 minutes Manchester United more of a goal threat going forward with efforts from Jadon Sancho coming close to getting on the scoresheet. Cristiano Ronaldo then pounced on 78 minutes after great work closing down from Fred high up the pitch for the ball to break to Cristiano Ronaldo to lift the ball over the Villarreal goalkeeper to give Manchester United the lead. Then it was the turn of Jadon Sancho to get his Manchester United goal tally off the mark with an excellent finish with a fierce effort into the top corner of the Villarreal net to make it Villarreal 0-2 Manchester United with particular praise for Fred & Jadon Sancho on the night. The Michael Carrick Interview after the game on BT Sport was an upbeat & positive outlook with many Man Utd fans encouraged Michael Carrick can take this performance to build on when Manchester United face Chelsea in Sundays Premier League clash.
