The Merseyside giants are reportedly on the verge of completing the deal to sign Renato Sanches, which is expected to cost nearly €37m excluding add-ons. If completed, Portugal international would become the Reds second signing of the summer. Sanches is likely to be handed a salary of €4.5m per season in addition to the €2m signing fees.
Liverpool are also expected to pay €3m to Lille in add-ons, provided certain objectives are met. Renato has enjoyed a swift renaissance in his career after three disappointing years at Bayern Munich.
Since moving to Lille in 2019, the 23-year-old midfielder has established himself as a key component in Christophe Galtier’s setup that shocked everyone by winning the Ligue 1 title this past campaign. The Portuguese midfielder’s revival helped him regain his place in the national Portugal side as well.
In fact, he was one of the nation’s few bright spots in an otherwise dire season that saw the defending champions being knocked out of the Round of 16 by Belgium.
