German Head Coach Joachim Low gave a press conference in Munich on Friday where he emphasized his team's preparedness for the game against Portugal after losing 1-0 to France in their opening match.

Speaking on the players' training, Low said that they worked on creating enough chances, something he admitted the team lacked in their last game, and reiterated the importance of not neglecting their defensive positions.

"This is not just a one-man-show for Portugal. It was before in 2014, 2012, 2016, it was the superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and he was the man in the Portuguese national team. But this has changed now and they have more players." said Low.

Die Mannschaft face off against A Selecao on Saturday in Munich needing a win to have a fighting chance of staying in the tournament. Portugal currently top the group and require at least one point to have a better chance of advancing to the next round.

SOUNDBITES:

SOT, Joachim Low, German Head Coach (German): "This is not just a one-man-show for Portugal. It was before in 2014, 2012, 2016, it was the superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and he was the man in the Portuguese national team. But this has changed now and they have more players. They have Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Joao Felix, and many more so they are as good as Cristiano. Cristiano is more than just to move away Coca-Cola bottles. He can score in special roles, he can score with the right, with the left, he is strong in headers."

SOT, Joachim Low, German Head Coach (German): "There is determination, there is this will. Everybody knows that we have to do things better and we have to improve and we will. Against France we showed a good defensive performance but it is not a secret that we didn't create enough chances. We worked on this in the last two days and we all are very optimistic even though we know that the pressure after a defeat increases but the team is very committed and they showed a good training attitude and they want to achieve a positive result."

SOT, Joachim Low, German Head Coach (German): "We need to do something to give our game more offensive power. After analysing our last game, I also saw that we have to get better in dangerous spaces, get positioned and set up well. The game against France showed that we need to be more intense and effective and this is a tactical change that we need to bring into our game."

SOT, Joachim Low, German Head Coach (German): "We're not going to storm out of the stadium for the devil. Portugal is not a one-man show with Ronaldo. They have four to five world class players. They are different than France. It is therefore important not to neglect the defence."
