There is none denying the fact that the name Manchester United, the giants of English football, the once fiery side which opponents tended to accept defeat even before the ball was kicked ! Is now in an oblique form, the club has endured a steady downward slope ever since Sir Alex Ferguson washed his hands of the Manchester United job. Strongly evidenced, by our paltry number of trophies and our incapacity to lay our hands on the EPL title in almost 10 years since we last won 1. Our direct rivals, City, Chelsea and Liverpool have easily capitalised on failure over the past years to grace their trophy cabinets, gradually closing the gap in terms of the number of silverware won. Rio Ferdinand, a club legend and a current pundit has come out with a clear message for United, the board, the management and we the fans. To Rio, he isn’t convinced that our current group, in totality, can turn into days of glory. The former defender compared the length at which Liverpool endured trophy drought from bad result to the time they finally turned things around, stating we should be humble for the club to get back on track. Ferdinand does not believe in the next season or two, United can be the once feared side. He tells to be humble and accept the reality on the grounds because it is going to take a long time to be back. In his plain words, “It's going to take that long, and you can't have that transition and win. It doesn't happen. Liverpool didn't do it. How long did it take Klopp to win? You have to take a leaf out of other team's books.Sometimes you've got to humble yourself and take stock and say in reality, that is where we are at”. Fellow Red Devils, Rio Ferdinand’s verdict on Manchester United. Do you agree with Rio or you think that he is entitled to his opinion and that United will be back in no time, let me know your views in the comments. We are still in contest for top 4, which has now become a yearly ambition, as to whether Rio has a point, only time will tell. Be here for all the updates, sub if you are new here, and like the video for more, Peace !
