Fans of the Hungarian national team showed visible despair as their team lost 0-3 at home in Budapest on Tuesday in their opening fixture of Euro 2020.

"Really enjoyed the game, it's a pity that we did not win but anyway it was a fantastic game," said Attilla Bukovszki, a Hungary fan from Budapest.

"We didn't deserve this," said another Hungarian fan from Budapest, Milan Dobi.

The game was edging towards a 0-0 draw until the 80th minute when winger Szabolcs Schon scored a goal for Hungary which was subsequently disallowed for an offside position.

Hungarians were still debating the decision when Portugal's Raphael Guerreiro finally broke the deadlock a few minutes before Juventus' Cristiano Ronald added a brace, becoming the all-time record goalscorer at European Championship finals.

Hungary are now set to face reigning world champions France in their second group game in Budapest on Saturday while Portugal will attempt to secure first place in the group with a trip to Munich to face Germany, also on Saturday.

SOT, Attilla Bukovszki, Fan of Hungarian national football team from Budapest: "It was just fantastic, I was here with the family. Really enjoyed the game, it's a pity that we did not win that goal but anyway it was a fantastic game. I have to congratulate the Portugal team but the Hungarians were amazing, just amazing so guys Hungary forever, Hungary forever."

SOT, Milan Dobi, Fan of Hungarian national football team from Budapest: "So we scored an offside goal, that was a dream for us. It was like five years ago in the Euro 2016, it was a dream for us. We have a European team that is doing good, we didn't deserve this."

SOT, Diogo Torres Campos, Fan of Portuguese national football team from Lisbon: "We are very happy because we start the tournament with a win, 3-0 is a great game for us. We hope the rest of the tournament will go this way."

SOT, Ricardo Castanheira, Fan of Portuguese national football team from Lisbon: "I think the first emotion was complete silence, everybody was shocked about what just happened. It's later that they started to run the ball to the Hungarian area and we scored a goal and everything went crazy, celebrating the goal and everything and then another one two minutes later and it was really nice."

SOT, Rui Araijo, Fan of Portuguese national football team from Vila Nova de Famalicao: "It was really good, I mean in the beginning all the fans of the Hungarian side were really strong and it was very complicated for Portugal but then we were lucky to get the first goal and after that it was easier for us. And we had luck, it was real quick but good, Hungary has a really good side."

SOT, Rui Araijo, Fan of Portuguese national football team from Vila Nova de Famalicao: "We hope so, I mean we have two strong teams that will go against them. Let's see, it's France and Germany but obviously we have our main player that is Ronaldo but we have some young players that can also help us go through. It's step by step, they still have two games so let's see."
