Manchester United 'make contact' with Cristiano Ronaldo's agent over £26m bargain transfer.
Manchester United has been offered the shock chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a sensational return to Manchester United, according to a report in the Italian media. The Portuguese forward’s future has been in doubt since Juventus’ exit from the Champions League last month.
The Report suggests that the Red Devils have made contact with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes after the former Real Madrid man was left furious at Juventus’ poor form under Andrea Pirlo.
The Italian giants have beaten away goals by Porto in the last 16, leaving Ronaldo without a European title since 2018.
Juventus’ 10th successive Scudetto remains in doubt as they sit 11 points behind leaders AC Milan in Serie A with six matches remaining.
A lack of support and a disastrous season for the Old Lady has left Ronaldo seeking a new challenge as he does not feel they have matched his ambitions for the campaign, say Gazzetta Dello Sport.
However, the same newspaper adds that the 36-year-old’s huge £27m salaries would need to be halved if he were to make a fairytale return to Old Trafford, where he won three Premier League titles and the first of his five Champions Leagues.
Juventus would be willing to relinquish Ronaldo’s wages for a fee of just £26m, but it is not believed that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner would want to settle for less.

Ronaldo moved to Juventus for £88 million following a trophy-laden nine years in Madrid.
He has won both Serie A and the Supercoppa twice with the Turin club and scored 97 goals in 92 appearances.
He has netted 31 times this campaign.
In Madrid, he won two La Liga titles and two Copa del Reys. There were four Champions League triumphs, including three successive wins between 2016 and 2018.
The report also links Ronaldo with a return to the Spanish giants but president Florentino Perez has denied the claims, appearing to place blame for the rumours on Mendes.
The under-fire Spaniard, who was at the forefront of controversial proposals for a 12-team European Super League, told El Larguero: “The rumours of Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Madrid are just rumours from his entourage. There is nothing.”
A return to Manchester would see Ronaldo go back to where he made his name. He became the most expensive teenager in football history when Sir Alex Ferguson took him from Sporting Lisbon for £12 million.
He went on to score 118 goals in 196 appearances before securing a record-breaking £80m move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009.
