Portugal's futsal national team were greeted by dozens of fans at Lisbon's airport following their victory in the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
The team's captain, Ricardinho, paraded the World Cup trophy as the team exited the airport in a moment of celebration.
“All I want to say is that I'm proud of this team, I'm proud of us having got this far,” said Ricardinho.
Ricardinho also expressed hope in serving as a source of inspiration for Portugal's national football team,“Hopefully they will also be able to make history for our country and take Portugal to the highest place possible.”
“It is not very relevant who scored the goals. The focus must be on Portugal's victory, that is what remains in history,” said player Pany Varela, who secured two goals against Argentina during the decisive final against Argentina in Kaunas.
“It is insane for a country like Portugal to beat all of these teams. This is a huge achievement,” said Joao Miguel Almeida, a fan of the team present at the airport greeting party.
Portugal beat Argentina 2-1 in the final on Sunday, winning the tournament for the first time in their history.

SOT, Richardinho, Captain of Portugal's national futsal team (Portuguese): "It's Incredible (the greeting party) but I also think we did a great job, we've earned this. So now we can enjoy."

SOT, Joao Miguel Almeida, Fan of Portugal's national futsal team (Portuguese): "Look, I do not know what to say. My desire would be to hug each one of them and thank them for what they have done for Portugal and for all of us, do you understand? It is insane. It is insane for a country like Portugal to beat all of these teams. This is a huge achievement. It is mind-blowing, isn't it? They deserve everyone to be here. It even me goosebumps in the heart and soul. Let them come forth."

SOT, Pany Varela, Player at Portugal's national futsal team (Portuguese): "On my way to the game, I just wanted to play a great game. Playing a great game is always my objective. The goal is a bonus. I have said it on several occasions: when the team plays well, anyone can score because we have a quality team. It happened to me and I am obviously happy with it but the most important thing is that Portugal were the winners. In five, ten or fifteen years what remains in history is the fact that Portugal won the World Cup. These 17 players and the staff were world champions. It is not very relevant who scored the goals. The focus must be on Portugal's victory, that is what remains in history."

SOT, Jorge Braz, Coach at Portugal's national futsal team (Portuguese): "These are 17 fantastic men. Men. People of character who established their goal. As we say here in the federation, let's give it everything and we gave everything to bring joy to the Portuguese people. We really wanted to bring this trophy to Portugal."

SOT, Ricardinho, Captain of Portugal's national futsal team (Portuguese): "All I want to say is that I'm proud of this team, I'm proud of us having got this far. We managed to be the champions of Europe, we managed to be the champions of the world. In two months we'll defend our title as current European and world champions and I think that's an incredible achievement."

SOT, Ricardinho, Captain of Portugal's national futsal team (Portuguese): "We have just won the World Cup, it was something like touching the sky, as I said. So hopefully we can now be an inspiration for our national team (Portuguese national football team). Hopefully they will also be able to make history for our country and take Portugal to the highest place possible."
