Why is nobody talking about how unfair Michael Carrick's situation at Manchester United is? Carrick took over from Ruben Amorim in January 2026 when United were struggling badly. The club only saw him as an interim manager until the end of the season. But then he won 11, drew three and lost just two of his final 16 games. United finished third and returned to the Champions League after two seasons away. That was enough for the club to give Carrick a permanent contract in May, which was recently extended until 2028. But here's the problem. When Carrick was only the interim manager, United didn't sign a single new player for him. Now he's the permanent manager and has to play in four competitions, yet the club has only signed Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and free agent goalkeeper Karl Darlow. Imagine if Mourinho or Amorim was treated like this. The media would go crazy every week. But Carrick just keeps quiet and trusts the players he already has.
