The Joan Gamper Trophy is always as much about what happens off the pitch as on it, and that was even more the case on Monday evening.
There were tributes aplenty to special guest opponents Chapecoense, some wonderful scenes of friendship between the Barça and Brazilian supporters, the presentation of Ernesto Valverde and his first team squad to the Camp Nou … and a game that lived up to occasion including Gerard Deulofeu marking his homecoming with a goal after just five minutes.
